Yirgacheffe Chelbesa is an exceptionally scored washed lot with great expression and a classic washed Yirgacheffe profile. The coffee is washed and sorted before grinding. Chelbesa uses water-saving eco-pulpers that remove the skin to get to the parchment coffee. Then, the mucilage is removed by leaving the parchment coffee in a fermentation tank for two to three days. After that, the coffee is placed in a soaking tank for 12 hours and then put on raised beds to dry for 7-10 days. The dried coffee is sorted to find damaged beans, and the good ones are sent to the warehouse for dry processing. Finally, the coffee is packed and ready for sale.

Snap Specialty Coffee was founded in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2008 by entrepreneur Negusse, driven by a passion for coffee. Through collaboration with its own washing stations in key coffee-producing areas such as Sidama, Yirgacheffe, and Guji Zone, the company excels in supply, production, and logistics systems.

Snap is committed to improving farmers’ living conditions and increasing coffee quality. Through its comprehensive approach, it provides training to more than 6,000 farmers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to improve nursery management, coffee production, and processing. Farmers receive inputs, including fertilizers, sprays, and pesticides, for free or at low cost to support their profitability in the face of rising costs.

The emphasis on quality also extends to strict cherry sorting throughout the process, ensuring that only the best cherries proceed to further processing. Snap’s efforts towards sustainable practices include soil and water conservation and deforestation awareness. By training farmers in these areas, it contributes to the overall improvement of rural living conditions and environmental sustainability.
